Gaylord College of Journalism and Mass Communication has been recognized as one of the top media programs in the country, according to the 2023 Broadcast Education Association (BEA) school rankings. Gaylord College has achieved impressive rankings across several categories, including #1 in Film and Video, #2 in News Programs, #5 in Scriptwriting, and #5 in Sports. These wins place Gaylord College as the #2 ranked overall media program in the country.

BEA rankings are based solely on student work and achievement, rather than on a program’s curriculum and structure. Competing against 170 academic institutions nationwide, Gaylord College secured a top spot in 4 individual categories ranked by the BEA.

“It’s exciting that Gaylord College is once again recognized as one of the elite programs of its kind in the country. We love seeing our students being saluted for their creativity and hard work that frequently exceed the expectations set by faculty and staff. Gaylord’s environment of excellence means our students will be ready to tackle the challenges and opportunities of media in the 21st century,” said Ed Kelley, Dean of Gaylord College.

Among the many accomplishments, the University of Oklahoma's commencement video produced by Gaylord students was named the Best of Festival at the recent BEA Festival of Arts competition.
