OU Sociology PhD candidate Abby Young was recently awarded a Dissertation Research Fellowship from the Dodge Family College of Arts and Sciences for the Spring 2023 semester, and her application “judged to be exceptional.” The award consists of $5,000 in professional development funds. Abby’s dissertation will focus on the possible connection between two touchstones of the current slowdown and stall in the gender revolution: gender attitudes and occupational gender segregation. She will examine micro-level and macro-level processes underpinning how people develop their attitudes toward gender, how these attitudes change over time, and whether changing occupational fields affect an individual’s gender attitudes. Abby's PhD committe consists of Anne Beutel (co-chair), Cyrus Schleifer (co-chair), Stephanie Burge, and Hairong Song.
Congratulations and Well done Abby!
