Associate Professor of Sociology Samuel Perry and his co-author Andrew Whitehead received the 2021 Distinguished Book Award from the Society for the Scientific Study of Religion for their book Taking America Back for God: Christian Nationalism in the United States. The book has already been recognized with an "Award of Merit" from Christianity Today magazine and a paperback edition will be published in 2022 with new preface by the authors and a foreword by Robert P. Jones.
