Congratulations to the 2018 Undergraduate Student Award Winners!
The Department of Sociology at the University of Oklahoma recognizes its outstanding undergraduate students with two awards and three scholarships. Academic Excellence Awards are presented to students who have demonstrated excellence in their course work. The Sociology faculty will nominate sociology majors with senior standing and winners are selected from the general sociology major and those who are pursuing emphasis in criminology. The outstanding research award is presented to an undergraduate student who has demonstrated excellence in sociological research, either in the classroom or in pursuing publication. The Alumni sociology scholars is presented to a sociology and/or sociology(criminology emphasis) major with junior standing who has demonstrated excellence in the coursework, research, and service to the department. The David T. Wright Memorial scholarship is given to a sociology major who are serving or have served in the U.S. military or who are planning a career in the military, law enforcement, or public service. This award is presented in honor of David T. Wright, who was killed in action in Afghanistan, while serving his country.
