Personal Statement
Codie Horse-Topetchy is a junior majoring in Native American Studies with minors in Linguistics and Political Science. She is of the Kiowa, Comanche, and Otoe-Missouria tribes. Her passions are language revitalization and cultural preservation. She is currently serving as the Native American Studies Undergraduate Research Assistant where she partakes in research regarding tribal oral histories and traditional knowledge systems. She is also a Kiowa language teacher candidate within her tribe. Her post-graduation goal is to go back to school and obtain either a master's in education or linguistics to teach Kiowa language and serve her community. She is currently a Mellon Impact Fellow and AT&T Native Scholar. She also serves as the multicultural liaison for It's On Us OU. In her internship with the Mellon Impact Fellowship, she will be doing research in experimental linguistics regarding Native American languages.
