Health, Medicine, and Society (HMS) is a unique major that prepares future healthcare professionals for careers in medicine, nursing, public health, pharmacy, and other allied health fields. Our curriculum provides core courses to broaden student understanding of health's human dimensions along with essential scientific foundations of medicine and health. Students work with instructors and fellow classmates to explore critical social, ethical, and humanistic concerns central to modern healthcare like the social determinants of health, cultural perspectives on illness, medical history, healthcare ethics, and health policy. Our integrated approach creates versatile graduates who can excel in healthcare careers and make meaningful contributions to their communities and society at large.
