ENST 3891: Environmental Studies Learning Community is a one-hour course repeated over three semesters, concurrently with ENST 2813, ENST 3893, and one other semester.ENST 2813 Cornerstone + ENST 3891 Learning Community are at the top. A Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies prepares you to participate in conversations on environmental topics with others who have a range of academic backgrounds.

The curriculum includes a 15-hour core sequence and 15 hours of interdisciplinary electives.

The core includes:

  • The Cornerstone: an overview of environmental research and teaching across the OU campus
  • The Research Project: independent study on a topic you choose
  • The Seminar: close study of the interdisciplinary approach to environmental issues
  • The Capstone: a service learning course working on an environmental problem in our area
  • The Learning Community: an enrichment experience for our students 

The electives are in two groups:

  • 6 hours of courses designed to demonstrate the interdisciplinary approach to the environment
  • 9 hours of courses taken from specific disciplines, spread across the environmental offerings in the OU course catalog.
