Core Courses offered next semester:

This table includes core courses available for Spring 2025.

Name CRN Time Description
ENST 3891/001: Environmental Studies Learning Community 42203 R, 4:30-5:45

The Learning Community deepens students’ immersion in the Environmental Studies culture of interdisciplinary interaction. Students engage in a variety of activities including workshops on career planning; visits from environmental professionals; environmentally related service projects; and presentations on academic and policy topics (among others). One project in the coming semester will include a Pollinator Garden at the OU Fit&Rec Community Garden space.

Majors should take the Learning Community concurrently with the Cornerstone class; as they carry out their Research in Environmental Studies; and one additional semester.

ENST 4893/900: Environmental Studies Capstone 42205 T, 3:00 - 5:40 Description: This course is the culmination of your Environmental Studies major. In your other classes, you learned how to integrate knowledge about environmental issues gained from a range of disciplines. Now you will apply that skill to an environmental problem affecting central Oklahoma. You will work on an interdisciplinary team to learn about a local environmental concern and collaborate with other members of the group to synthesize an interdisciplinary understanding of the issue. You will have the opportunity to help collect and analyze scientific data, work together to propose solutions to the issue, and write a report to present to local community members directly impacted by the issue.
