Mike's Coaching Mindset: "I believe that coaching is creating awareness for individuals to recognize what their values are and then focusing on goals related to those values. A coach will ask questions to have the individual focus on what is in their control in order to have continuous growth through specific actions."

Higher Education Background:

  • Bachelor's- Elementary Education, The University of Oklahoma.
  • Master's- Adult and Higher Education, The University of Oklahoma.

Interests and Hobbies:

  • Movies.
  • Golf.
  • Hanging out with my family and kids.  

Top Life Defining Moments in Higher Education:

  • When I received an email from a student 4 years after I met with her during her freshman year saying that our meetings are what allowed her to stay at OU and be successful
  • Working with a mentor who coached me to realize my interests and how I can best serve students led me to financial coaching
  • A specific conversation I had with a student who indicated that they became aware of what is important in life after our meetings and she now feels like she understands what her future and purpose is.

While in college, I experienced:

  • Balancing work and school.
  • Difficulty building and managing successful study systems.
  • Financial Stress.
  • Homesickness.
  • Overcoming daily challenges through resiliency.
