United World College Scholars Program

The University of Oklahoma currently is home to 340 Davis United World College Scholars from 111 countries. OU is a ten-time winner of the Davis Cup, awarded annually for the largest freshman class of UWC students in the United States, and remains the first and only public university ever to win the Davis Cup. OU UWC Scholars Program is now the largest program of its kind in the United States. The University is proud to partner with the Davis UWC Scholars Program and to provide an excellent undergraduate experience for all UWC graduates.

Fall 2025 Application Deadline: 1st February 2025

In October 2007 the University of Oklahoma became a partner university with the Davis UWC Scholars Program. OU’s first class of Davis Scholars enrolled in Fall 2008 and included four UWC students. Over a decade later, over 300 Davis UWC Scholars are enrolled at OU.

The mission of the University of Oklahoma is to provide the best possible educational experience for our students through excellence in teaching, research and creative activity, and service to the state and society. In the heart of the United States, OU offers all the great opportunities of a large research university and a small liberal arts college on a beautiful welcoming campus.

The University of Oklahoma combines the benefits of a public research university with the personalized attention often found only at a private college.  With over 170 degree programs from which to choose, more than 500 student organizations in which you can be part, opportunities to participate in cutting-edge research, and a vast array of athletic and fine arts events, the public university offers many advantages.

However, just like at a small college you also are known by name – not only by OU’s UWC Scholars Program staff, but also by your academic adviser who personally works with you as you select courses, explore internship opportunities and consider your future career.

While many of our UWC students are pursuing professional programs (such as engineering, architecture, business and journalism – all very popular options), there are over 170 degree programs from which applicants may choose.   Currently enrolled Davis Scholars are majoring in other areas such as international studies, the sciences, journalism, economics, liberal arts, languages, fine arts and much more.  Find out more from one-page overviews of every undergraduate degree program offered at OU.

Academic support at OU is accessible and free-- OU's Writing Center, Math Center, Action Tutoring,  Academic Life Coaching, and more all offer support to students so they feel confident and supported throughout their academic career.

For those post-graduation plans, OU Career Services serves students from Day 1 with workshops, career fairs, one on one advising, and access to hiring platforms.

Having a large and engaged UWC community at OU ensures UWC scholars have a network of students to rely on when they arrive, helping them transition to university, and supporting them throughout their time at OU.

Additionally, the UWC Scholars Program office provides centralized support and assistance to all UWC scholars and UWC community as a whole. In addition to assisting prospective students, incoming students, and current students with all things OU, community events, activities, and workshops are organized to help connect UWC scholars to each other and key resources on campus.

OU has more than 550 student clubs and organizations representing different academic, pre-professional, cultural, political, religious, intermural sport clubs, and social groups. UWC students on our campus formally organized as an official OU student organization, called The United World (TUW).  TUW is actively involved in promoting the UWC ideals and values at the University of Oklahoma.  Through clubs and organizations, OU students have an opportunity to participate in culturally rich and varying dialogues, discussions, sports, and creative activities.

The Leadership Development and Volunteerism Office helps to connect students to over 100 agencies for short-term and long-term volunteer projects. Students have an opportunity to participate in annual campus wide service projects such as Arbor Day, Green Week  and The Big Event.

All first-year students at OU are required to live on campus and almost all of our first-year Davis UWC Scholars live in the Tower residence halls where two rooms share one private bathroom.  Students have access to 24-hour laundry centers, computer labs, social lounges, and study areas. Also, OU’s library is within walking distance from the residence halls.  A full list of all residence hall options and virtual tours can be found on the OU housing website.

Dunham College and Headington College, OU’s Residential Colleges, are close-knit and supportive communities that promote the social, intellectual and personal growth and are open to first through fourth year student residents.

After the first year, students can move to an on-campus apartment. By far most of our Davis UWC Scholars choose to move to OU’s Traditions Square apartments that are fully furnished with a kitchen and washer/dryer. Students can enjoy the pool and hot tub, putting green, volleyball and basketball courts in the apartment complex. Also, students have access to a 24-hour fitness center in the clubhouse.

Compare all of OU's upperclass housing options and see photos galleries and virtual tours on the OU Housing websites.

OU’s national award-winning cafeteria, Couch Restaurants, offers all-you-care-to-eat dining to students. Students have 14 different dining options including vegetarian and vegan options, halal, gluten-free, and many healthy choices. For students that are always on the go, they also can use their meal plans to dine in the more than 20 other restaurants on campus.
