"One of the University of Oklahoma’s many objectives is to ensure prospective students with the belief that a college degree is attainable. First-generation students – those whose parents/guardians did not finish a four-year college degree – may often believe that a future promise of education is not afforded to them due to a lack of familial experience. OU has been recognized as one of the more successful higher-education institutes in attracting first-generation students. Recent freshman classes have seen a 25% share of its class be the first in their families to attend college." - Office of the Senior Vice President and Provost
ALD is a prestigious national society that honors academic excellence during a student's first year at a college or university. The University of Oklahoma is home to the strongest chapter, which has been ranked nationally in excellence for numerous years. Members have access to unique leadership and community service opportunities, as well as scholarships specifically designed for chapter members. ALD members also enjoy lifelong membership.
ASC offers various paid positions for undergraduate and graduate students. Students who work in one of our departments gain leadership, public speaking, organization, and customer service skills. New positions open occasionally, so check back regularly for a position that suits you!
This group of undergraduates provides student leadership and service engagement to the Academic Success Center, often assisting with events by representing ASC across campus and during prospective student recruitment. Students are selected at the beginning of the Fall semester based on previous leadership experience and recommendation by University faculty or staff. Members may elect to continue serving in their position until graduating with a Bachelor's degree.
ASC offers a variety of undergraduate scholarships to support the financial commitment to higher education. From October 1st to February 1st of each academic year, you can apply for these scholarships through CASH, OU's Centralized Academic Scholarship Hub.
