OU Concurrent Enrollment has partnered with Norman Public Schools to bring some of our courses directly to Norman High School and Norman North High School classrooms with College in the High School. Students can have the experience of being in an OU classroom without ever having to leave their high school campus!

Eligibility

To be admitted as a concurrent student for College in the High School courses:

  • Be a high school junior or senior and

  • Have at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA

  • At least 19 ACT or Pre ACT/ 510 SAT or PSAT 10 sub scores in the subject area a student wishes to enroll.

Exception Note: Due to OU Regents’ policy, an applicant cannot be considered test-optional for concurrent courses that are taught on the Norman High and Norman North campuses.

To enroll as a concurrent student for a College in the High School course:

  •  Be an admitted student.

  •  At least 19 ACT or Pre ACT/ 510 SAT or PSAT 10 sub score in the subject area a student wishes to enroll.

  •  Students applying test optional must pass an assessment in the subject area they wish to enroll.

*Students interested in College in the High School College Algebra course must pass a math assessment regardless of ACT score.

How to Enroll

  • Once admitted, students will make an advising appointment to get enrolled in classes. Advising appointments can be made at iadvise.ou.edu. Advising appointments will be held every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays during the following advising windows:
  • Fall Semester: Advising will begin the first Tuesday in February and continue until the Thursday before the first day of class in August.
  • Spring Semester: Advising will begin the third Tuesday in October and continue until the Thursday before the first day of class in January.

  • If enrolling in CIHS English—Students will send their counselor the updated schedule to be added to the class roster at the high school if enrolling.

  • If enrolling in CIHS College Algebra—An updated roster will be sent to the school on a recurring basis.

*Students enrolled in CIHS College Algebra will not be enrolled in a course through OU until spring semester, contingent on passing the first semester prep course.

CIHS College Algebra is offered at both Norman and Norman North campuses. The fall semester is a prep math class, this means students will not earn college credit for this specific semester. Students must pass the fall semester course, be an admitted OU student and successfully pass the math assessment to enroll in the spring semester. This semester is when college credit is earned for College Algebra.

CIHS English is offered at both Norman and Norman North campuses. Students will take Composition 1 during the fall semester and Composition 2 during the spring semester. College credit will be earned for both semesters.

Norman Public Schools students can choose between College in the High School courses, online courses, and in-person courses offered on the OU Norman campus.

If a student meets the prerequisites for the courses they are interested in, they are eligible to enroll in them. (Cost may vary depending on course types. Review estimated costs.)

OU even has online courses that are fee waived, which means with the tuition waiver that senior students are eligible for up to 18 hours, these courses are completely FREE seniors! Find more info about our featured courses.

College in the High School courses are offered at a reduced rate of half the fee rate ($40 per credit hour) and tuition for Juniors. The tuition waiver will apply toward CIHS courses so Seniors will only be responsible for the reduced fee rate.

  • If taking CIHS classes, you won’t need to re-enroll after the first semester. We will enroll you in the second semester of the course based on passing the first semester of the course.

  • If taking online or on-campus courses, make an advising appointment to get enrolled. If enrolling in classes for Fall semester, appointments will open towards the end of March. If enrolling in classes for Spring and Summer semesters, appointments will open mid October
