Below are our current partners both at the University of Oklahoma and within the larger Norman/OKC community. With these partners, we have created and delivered programming on a variety of topics, attended student resource and welcome events, and hosted events in the Writing Center for partnering groups. We strive to help each of our partners reach their goals, whether that's supporting current and prospective students at OU, or providing access to writing resources across the community.
The Writing Center frequently partners with the Connection and Student Engagement team to offer programming for under represented populations.
New for Fall 2023:
The Writing Center is partnering with the Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity (UReCA). We will be offering workshops related to the UReCA fellowship/funding opportunities for undergraduate students.
The Writing Center collaborates regularly with the Graduate College to support graduate and post-doc writers through a variety of events, workshops, and programs.
The Writing Center regularly supports the McNair Scholars Program's mission to prepare underrepresented students for graduate education through participation in research and other scholarly activities.
The Writing Center works frequently with English Department faculty to coordinate and implement programming for FYC students.
The Writing Center supports all FYC students via consultations and through regularly scheduled FYC Write Night programming.
The Writing Center has partnered with OU Libraries to offer research support during major camps and retreats. Librarian hours have also been available in the Writing Center space to provide research support to writers.
The Writing Center has partnered with the Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education to support graduate writers as they transition to graduate school and as they approach major projects, like the thesis or dissertation.
The Writing Center has worked with the Gateway to Belonging branch of FYE in a variety of ways, from providing workshops to instructors to offering multiple Write Nights specific to UCOL 1523 students.
The Writing Center interacts frequently with the Expository Writing Faculty to support students as they explore the wider academic world that the university has to offer and the skills they’ll need to make their voices heard within that world.
The Writing Center supports Project Threshold through a variety of collaborations as they offer services to students who identify as first generation, economically disadvantaged, and/or disabled.
The Writing Center designs and delivers workshops and programming to support the students enrolled in the English Upward Bound courses each summer.
The Writing Center supports students enrolled in general education history courses (HIST 1483 and 1493) through History Write Nights each semester.
The Writing Center collaborates with the Office of Advocacy and Education to offer writing-centered workshops with related themes. Previous workshops include Writing the Rainbow for Queer Creativity Week.
The Writing Center has partnered with Sooner Works to provide work opportunities and programming for enrolled students with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
The Writing Center has partnered with Bridges to offer workshops and events for both Norman North and Norman High School students via The Spot.
Members of the Expository Writing Program's faculty offer services to the Joseph Harp Correctional Center. The Writing Center supports these efforts.
The Writing Center has partnered with Cosmic Flora Crystal Co. to provide programming that connects the mind and body with writing.
