Student Accommodation Services (SAS)

What is SAS?

Student Accommodation Services, also known as SAS, is a new functional service area on the OU-Tulsa and OU Health Sciences campuses. Effective November 2024, SAS has taken over responsibility for all reasonable accommodations and temporary modifications from the Accessibility & Disability Resource Center (ADRC) on the OU-Norman campus. SAS now has responsibility for all students geographically based on the OU-Tulsa campus, the OU Health Sciences campus, and all additional sites hosting coursework for an OU Health Sciences program.

Students are encouraged to review all our SAS webpages to find all information relative to our registration process, documentation guidelines, renewing existing accommodations, resources specific to faculty, and more.

Definition of Disability

Per the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), an individual with a disability is defined as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, a person who has a history or record of such an impairment, or a person who is perceived by others as having such an impairment.

At institutions of higher education, like OU-Tulsa, ADA dictates that students must self-disclose their disabilities in order to receive accommodations. Accommodations are not deemed to be in-place or official until the initial registration process is completed.

Our Team

Two full-time Academic Resource Coordinators (ARCs) facilitate all Student Accommodation Services processes for the Tulsa, Oklahoma City, and additional site students. Our ARCs work collaboratively to provide services for the campuses and sites they oversee, but Mackenzie Bedwell has primary responsibility for the OU-Tulsa campus. Payton Patterson-Jones supports the Oklahoma City campus and all additonal sites where OU Health Sciences courses are offered. Executive Director for OU-Tulsa Student Affairs, Josh Davis, is currently supporting the training our our two ARC positions within Student Accommodation Services.

Mackenzie's office is housed within OU-Tulsa Student Affairs, located in the main administration building at the back of the Founders Student Center lounge at the south end of the 1C hallway.
