Green Building

Green building is the standard of creating structures and utilizing methods that are environmentally conscious and resource-efficient throughout a building's life-cycle.

Green building standards allow the University to build structures which (a) efficiently utilize energy & water (b) reduce waste, pollution, and environmental degradation, and (c) prioritize the health and comfort of building occupants.  These green buildings are also able to improve worker productivity and reduce operating costs through reduced utility expenditures.

Here at the University of Oklahoma we use the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) standard to measure our green building efforts.

The following OU buildings have received LEED recognition: Three Partners Place (Certified), Zarrow Hall (Certified), Four Partners Place (Certified), Radar Innovations Laboratory (Certified), Five Partners Place (Certified), Headington Hall (Certified), the Residential Colleges (Silver), Lin Hall (Silver) and Gallogly Hall (Gold).
