Supported by the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, the Regents Business Partnership Excellence Award is designed to highlight successful partnerships and to further cultivate the higher learning environment through State Regents’ Economic Development Grants.
This year, the University of Oklahoma nominated The Boeing Company as one of 27 business partners selected by the 27 public higher education institutions within the state.
Examples of Boeing support include collaborative research efforts and student support and student practice on real-world challenges through curricular assignments alongside Boeing mentors. Boeing representatives contribute to enriched curriculum development by serving on advisory boards within both the Price College of Business and Gallogly College of Engineering. Boeing also supports university outreach and student retention by providing funding for high school students to tour OU campus facilities and a host of other activities, all to ensure the mutually beneficial goal of educating the next generation of Oklahomans to excel in high-value and high-paying positions and bolster the state’s economy.
Through workforce development, Boeing provides support throughout students’ higher education careers. By opening the doors to their world-class Boeing facility in Oklahoma City, and through their support for bringing OU faculty and students to the forefront of innovative research, Boeing creates opportunities for students to gain real-world experience. This is reflected in their status as one of OU’s top commercial research sponsors and frequent research partner. Boeing is among the top hiring companies for both student internships and full-time employment of OU students.
In 2022, the OU School of Aviation was ranked first in the country among collegiate aviation programs by FLYING Magazine for strong curriculum, business focus and opportunities to build connections. OU’s excellence in radar innovations, severe weather research and continued growth in research mean that the future of the partnership with Boeing may be even brighter yet.
