1960s

Robert Corns (BBA, Finance, 1960) has published a new book, Saving General Patton, which tells the story of three childhood friends during and after the Second World War.

 

Phil Brockhaus (BBA, Accounting, 1969; MBA, 1970) has been named a 2020 Path Finder by the Oklahoma Society of CPAs for his mentoring contributions to the field.

1970s

Judy Hatfield (BBA, Business Administration, 1971) was spotlighted in a news story by the Oklahoman this spring.

 

Jim Small (MBA, 1972) has been named a 2020 Path Finder by the Oklahoma Society of CPAs for his mentoring contributions to the field.

 

Hedin E. Daubenspeck (BBA, Accounting, 1972) has published a new spiritual guidebook, Pony Ride to an Awakening: The Journey of a Mystic.

 

Jerry Vest (BBA, Finance, 1976) has been appointed to Northwest Arkansas Community College board.

1980s

Bruce Adams (BBA, Management, 1980) is running for the Iowa State Senate in District 38.

 

Unit Corp has named David Merrill (BBA, Accounting, 1983) the company's President and Chief Executive Officer.

 

Todd Tautfest (BBA, Petroleum Land Management, 1983) has joined Cresset as a Managing Director in the Atlanta region.

 

Cotton Creek Capital has added Robert Felton (BBA, Finance, 1986) as an Advisory Partner.

2000s

Hunt Real Estate Capital has announced that Brian Adams (BBA, Finance, 2001)has joined the firm as Director.

 

Tim Roberts (BBA, Finance, 2005) has been named a 2020 Path Finder by the Oklahoma Society of CPAs for his mentoring contributions to the field.

 

Greg Archbald (BBA, Energy Management, 2006) has published an article about technology in the oil field.

2010s

An article by Anthony Klotz (Ph.D., Business Administration, 2013) and Mark Bolino, “Bringing the Great Outdoors Inside Workplaces,” has been referenced in a new article by Academy of Management Insights.

 

Andrew French (BBA, Entrepreneurship & Venture Management, 2014) received a feature write-up in the Oklahoman.

 

Enid native Trey Petty (PMBA, 2016) has been named a 2020 Trailblazer by the Oklahoma Society of CPAs for his mentoring contributions to the field.

 

Paxton Pennington (BBA, Finance, Entrepreneurship & Venture Management, 2019) has recorded a new single, “Honey.”

In Memoriam

Charles “Chuck” M. Wilbanks (BBA, Management, 1955), owner and president of Wilbanks Energy Corporation, passed away in February. He was affiliated with Phillips Petroleum for 13 years in Louisiana before moving to Houston through a series of various promotions. In 1969, he formed Mason-Wilbanks Oil Operations and, in 1981, Wilbanks Energy Corporation. He was an avid supporter of his alma mater.

Oleta Walker (BBA, Accounting, 1982) passed away in February. She became a Certified Public Accountant in Denton, Texas, where she worked for accounting firm Ernest Nikkel and Hankins & Powers.  She taught at Moorehead State University in Moorehead, Minnesota, before she retired in 1997 and moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma.

John Dierker (BS, Business, 1950; Bachelor of Laws/LLB Upgrade to JD, 1953) passed away in December, 2019. He served in the Korean War in the 45th Division, then joined the Air Force Reserve and retired as a Lt. Colonel. He practiced law in Dallas until 1984 and moved to San Angelo, Texas, in 2007.

Rick Moore (BBA, Accounting, 1982; JD, 1985), who passed away in October, 2019, has left behind the second-largest donation to the OU College of Law in the college’s history – a nearly $5 million gift. As an eternal expression of his appreciation to both degree programs he experienced, the Rick Moore Endowed Scholarship will provide a three-year OU Law education tuition-free for an eligible student who earned an undergraduate degree in accounting from OU.
