OU Energy Institute to Premiere New Energy Webcast June 15

Price College of Business | Energy Institute | The University of Oklahoma

In response to the challenges of pandemic-related global demand for energy resources, the University of Oklahoma Energy Institute is launching a new summer webcast Monday, June 15. The complimentary bi-weekly series will be available online at price.ou.edu/energywebcast.

The premier episode will feature Scott Sheffield, president and CEO of Pioneer Natural Resources, who will be interviewed by Bruce Stover, longtime Energy Institute board member, and Price Executive MBA in Energy alumnus John Westerheide of Ming Energy Partners. Future episodes will cover numerous guests and topics from the energy sector, including hydrocarbon, renewables and energy in transition.

“The advent of COVID-19 has accelerated the fundamental changes already taking place in the industry after the third price crash in a little over a decade,” said Dipankar Ghosh, the ConocoPhillips Chair in Energy Accounting at the Price College of Business. “Neither the extent nor the duration of these changes is clear. As the industry navigates this new normal, what can we learn from established and thoughtful leaders in the energy industry? The Energy Institute’s bimonthly webcasts will bring together industry leaders to discuss today’s key issues and insights.”

Ghosh also is the David Ross Boyd Professor of Accounting and the founding executive director of the Energy Institute.

As part of the Michael F. Price College of Business, the Energy Institute is home to the Executive MBA in Energy program. It provides a community of practitioners and academics to advance innovative and sustainable solutions to the critical energy challenges facing the nation and, more broadly, the global community through education, research and outreach.

For the past several years, the Energy Institute has hosted an annual Energy Symposium, which features guest presenters from around the globe and draws an international audience of participants. While this year’s symposium was postponed due to COVID-19, the new webcast series offers a new outlet for the institute to continue the Energy Symposium’s mission by sharing global energy insights from subject matter experts across the spectrum of experiences and expertise.
