OU’s Price College of Business Rises 15 Spots in Bloomberg Businessweek’s Best Business Schools of 2019-20

Students gather at the Gene Rainbolt Graduate School of Business
Bloomberg Businessweek has announced that the Price College of Business’s Gene Rainbolt Graduate School of Business, home to OU’s MBA program, has jumped 15 spots from last year in its ranking of the best U.S. business schools of 2019-20.

The full-time MBA program, offered by the Michael F. Price College of Business at the University of Oklahoma and housed at the Gene Rainbolt Graduate School of Business in Oklahoma City, jumped 15 spots from last year to 64th in the nation in Bloomberg Businessweek’s ranking of the 2019-20 best MBA programs.

“Congratulations to our faculty and staff, who have worked tirelessly to offer our students the highest quality education and experiential learning possible,” said Wayne Thomas, interim dean of the Price College of Business. “We are excited by these impressive ranking increases. This is clear evidence that hard work and dedication by a great team have paid off, and we are proud to share this news with our students, alumni, corporate partners and key stakeholders.”

The jump in Price College’s ranking is attributed to significant increases in three categories: learning, networking and entrepreneurship. The overall score represents a ranking of 32nd among public schools and indicates the third highest jump in rankings among public schools.

“These are phenomenal achievements, especially in light of the headwinds facing full-time MBA programs across the nation, and we are very proud of our success, especially as they reflect the views of our alumni, recruiters and students,” said Laku Chidambaram, associate dean for academic programs and engagement.

Students who posted anonymous surveys said, “the entrepreneurship class offerings were a great way to develop and launch a business for those interested in that path, and the access to alumni networks made the process easier,” and “the faculty [are] interested in [students’] development, and the cost of the program is reasonable.”

This week’s news helps further catapult the Price College of Business, which received record rankings for its undergraduate programs by U.S. News and World Report in September. In its 2020 Best Colleges Rankings, the Price College’s undergraduate business program is ranked 50th in the nation, up 12 spots from last year. This ranking is the highest that Price College’s undergraduate program has received in its history – a ranking that represents 31st among all public business schools.
