James “Jay” Lewis, a senior executive with more than 20 years of experience in the energy sector, is speaking at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Price Hall, 307 W. Brooks St., on the University of Oklahoma Norman campus. Lewis is presenting as part of the Michael F. Price College of Business distinguished speaker series.

The fireside chat format, to be held in Dodson Lounge, will feature Lewis and Price College Dean Daniel Pullin conversing about a number of topics, with follow-up questions from the audience.

Although the event is geared toward college students, the event is open to the public with complimentary admission.

“Price College is honored to host such a dynamic industry leader as Jay Lewis,” said Pullin. “His vision and enthusiasm will inspire our students, who are increasingly setting their sights on career paths in the dynamic energy sector. Jay’s entrepreneurial mindset provides our students a fresh view on how to grow and sustain enterprises that both profit and contribute to the world around them.”

As an industry thought leader with experience in sales, operations, risk management and product development, Lewis applies unique problem-solving skills that contribute to strategy decisions, sounds governance practices and business plan execution. Throughout his career, Lewis has amassed a broad range of experiences in driving both world-class and startup organizations, which have enabled him to become a valued contributor to boards of directors of both publicly traded and privately held companies.

In 2007, Lewis began his tenure with Just Energy Group Inc., where he was retained by his former employer, Just Energy LLC, upon their acquisition. For the next 11 years, he progressed steadily, expanding his leadership scope from vice president to senior vice president to chief operating officer, and then president and co-chief executive officer.

Lewis’s academic credentials include an MBA with a full scholarship from New York University’s Stern School of Business, where he also was a Consortium for Graduate Studies in Management Fellow. Prior to this, he earned two degrees in four years: a master of engineering and a bachelor of engineering from Stevens Institute of Technology in New Jersey.

Lewis was selected as a Diversity Role Model finalist for Houston Business Journal’s Diversity in Business Awards in 2017, as well as a Mentorship Award Nominee. He has served as a CEO panelist at the 2017 Energy Thought Leadership Summit and presented at the 2016 Energy Management Conference. He was a 2017 panelist for the Congressional Black Caucus at the Energy Summit in Washington, D.C.
