Professional MBA Admissions

Apply Now!

The Fall 2025 application is now open. Spring entry is not available for the Professional MBA program.

Fall 2025 application deadlines:

Early deadline: February 15, 2025

Domestic applicants: May 1, 2025

We value a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives in our classroom, so we encourage applicants from a variety of academic and professional backgrounds to apply.

Admissions decisions are made on a rolling basis. It is to your advantage to apply as early as you are ready. The admissions committee cannot predict the quality of future applications and is inclined to admit well-qualified applicants early in the process. In addition, early application ensures that you will receive a decision earlier. However, it is important not to rush your application. We encourage you to take the time necessary to submit a thoughtful, well-prepared application.

Requirements

The non-refundable application fee covers the cost of processing the application. The application fee is $50 for domestic applicants and $100 for international applicants. We do not offer application fee waivers.

While you do not need to submit all of your application requirements at once, your application will not be considered for admission until we have received all required parts of your application.

Upload an unofficial copy of your transcript from your last degree-granting institution to the online application and request for an official transcript to be sent to OU.

Official Paper Transcripts can be sent to:
University of Oklahoma
Office of Graduate Admissions
731 Elm Avenue, Room 318
Norman, OK 73019

Official Electronic Transcripts can be sent to:
gradadm@ou.edu

The OU Professional MBA Program will consider applicants who wish to apply for admission to the program without a GMAT/GRE score.

If you choose to take an entrance exam or have already taken the GMAT or GRE, please upload an official score report with your admissions application. Test scores are valid for five years and we only consider your highest GMAT or GRE scores. Which test you choose to take is entirely up to you, and we do not give preferential treatment to those who select one test over the other.

If you wish to apply for an entrance exam waiver, you may do so at any time. All entrance exam waivers applicants will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis, and the granting of waivers cannot be guaranteed. A denial of this request does not preclude you from taking the GMAT/GRE and continuing to apply for admission to the Professional MBA Program.

We look at two main criteria as a basis for the waiver request:

  1. A minimum GPA of 3.30 or higher from most recent Bachelor's or Master's degree completed
  2. Has demonstrated quantitative aptitude through professional or academic experience (such as work projects, academic coursework, STEM degrees, or other)

Entrance Exam Waiver Application

* Applicants to the Full-time MBA or other graduate programs in Price College are not eligible for this waiver request.

Candidates not approved for an Entrance Exam Wavier may be offered the option to take MBA Math, an online learning module. If asked to complete MBA Math, you will be given specific instructions on the modules to complete along with a coupon code to cover the cost.

Provide a copy of an up-to-date professional résumé. Include information about full-time positions, military assignments, and significant part-time or summer work experiences. Résumés should also list education history with dates of attendance and graduation.

As part of the online application, you will be asked to respond to one brief, required essay question detailing why you want to pursue an MBA at OU and your future career goals (500 words maximum).  In addition, if you feel there are unaddressed gaps in your educational background or professional experience, you may also submit another optional brief statement (200 words maximum).

Students admitted to the Professional MBA must be employed full-time to be eligible for the part-time, Professional MBA program. The Professional MBA is an in-person program, with classes located at the OU MBA facility in Oklahoma City.

The admissions committee will contact you via email to schedule the interview at a mutually convenient time. Interviews can be conducted in-office, virtually, or over the phone.

Requests for transfer credit are reviewed upon acceptance to the Professional MBA program. Courses must be from an AACSB-accredited institution with an earned grade of B or higher, taken within the last five years, and approved by the MBA department.

There are no prerequisites for the MBA program. The curriculum provides introductory business courses at the graduate level

Letters of Recommendation are optional. If you choose to submit recommendation letters, you may upload them in the “Additional Documents” section of the online application or email them to OklahomaMBA@ou.edu.

Reapplying the following year, after being denied, does not hamper your chances of being admitted into the program. We will evaluate your application as brand new and will not consider the previous denial. If you want to improve your application and are unsure of how to better your chances, feel free to reach out to us. We would be happy to discuss how you can improve your application.
