Jacob Whitney is currently a doctoral candidate in Management and International Business. His research focuses on leadership, teams, and organizational citizenship behavior. His dissertation explores the discussion of social issues between a supervisor and subordinate. Such discussions are not only increasingly expected but also important to employees today. In complementary survey and experimental vignette studies, he examines how supervisors respond to pressure from subordinates to champion social issues in the workplace.

Prior to pursuing a doctorate, Jacob worked in several management roles in various organizations including higher education and nonprofit institutions. He loves to spend time with his wife and two children, as well as enjoys sports, running, and traveling.
