Traditional MAcc in Accountancy
The Master of Accountancy (MAcc) program at OU is designed to prepare students not only to pass the CPA exam*, but also for positions of responsibility in the accounting profession. It combines a broad-based business curriculum with in-depth accounting training, affording students the opportunity to specialize in chosen areas of accounting practice. Traditional and Accelerated students may specialize in tax, audit, or data analytics.
Degree Requirements
The residential MAcc program requires 33 graduate credit hours.
Admissions Requirements
The traditional, stand-alone MAcc program is open to students who have already earned a bachelor’s degree, regardless of their undergraduate major. Admission decisions are based on a number of factors including performance in prior undergraduate/graduate coursework, a GMAT score, employment history, and a statement of the applicant's personal goals. Admission decisions are generally made after the application deadline, but early admission decisions are possible for the most highly qualified applicants.
International students for whom English is a second language must also demonstrate proficiency in English via the TOEFL (minimum 100 on internet-based test) or IELTS (minimum 7.0). International students who have satisfactorily completed at least 24 semester hours at a regionally or nationally accredited U.S. university, or in any other country in which English is the native language, will satisfy the English proficiency requirement. See additional details on the English proficiency requirement.

* The OU MAcc program meets the educational requirements to sit for the CPA exam in Oklahoma and Texas. We have made no determination as to whether or not the program meets the educational requirements of any other state. We believe it likely that our program can meet the minimum educational requirements necessary for the CPA credential in all US jurisdictions, but each student should carefully review the requirements in any jurisdiction in which they intend to practice to ensure that their program of study includes all courses required.
