Applied AI on Norman Campus

The OU Polytechnic Institute is Expanding

High school seniors can now apply to receive a bachelor's degree in applied artificial intelligence from the University of Oklahoma. The OU Polytechnic Institute (OUPI) is expanding to the OU-Norman campus with a four-year applied artificial intelligence degree this fall. The OU application for admission is now open, and high school seniors are encouraged to apply before our December 15 final scholarship admission deadline.

"As the need for workers with a comprehensive understanding of artificial intelligence skills skyrockets, OUPI is rising to the occasion. We're excited to offer this new major to incoming freshmen who are interested in learning computer and information technology skills," said Teri K. Reed, the Director of the OU Polytechnic Institute.

Working with local and state industry partners, the OU Polytechnic Institute is designed to meet the demands of the growing technology field. With almost 4,000 vacant cybersecurity jobs and more than 600 available jobs in computer and information technology in Oklahoma alone, students will be in high demand right after graduation. With starting salaries ranging between $75,000 to $85,000 a year, OUPI graduates can find a rewarding career while making an impact in their communities.

OUPI students gain hands-on experience and academic support that lets them leap into action once they graduate. Plus, with student organizations like the Oklahoma Polytechnic Association for Learning, our students find a welcoming and supportive community right when they get on campus.

OUPI will continue to offer degree completion programs in applied artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and software integration and development on the OU-Tulsa campus. The OUPI application for admission to those degree completion programs is now open, and students with at least 24 credit hours and a 2.5 GPA are encouraged to apply before our March 1 early action admission deadline.
