OU Women's Rugby is a club sport, and we accept everyone who wants to play. Rugby can be played by people of all body types and athletic abilities, and therefore we're looking for all different kinds of people to join the team. We've had people from all different athletic backgrounds; no matter where you're at we'll help you learn the skills you need to have fun playing. Joining rugby at OU also means you'll be a part of one of the most successful women's collegiate teams in the country. But don't worry, we'll teach you everything you need to know. There's no prior experience necessary; right now we only have one girl who had ever played rugby before coming to OU! |
Joining rugby is a great chance to learn a new sport, play competitively, have a lot of fun, and meet some great people at the same time. Come out and give it a shot!
How to get involved:
- We will have our first team meeting on Thursday, September 4 at our clubhouse immediately following practice.
- We will have a combined BBQ dinner with our men's team on Thursday, September 4 at our clubhouse immediately following our meeting. They are making selections at the same time, so it should work out.
- There is a Big XII skills camp for new players and potential U23 select-side (all-stars) being held in Kansas City on Saturday, September 6. Our team is planning to attend. This is optional for you. We will have a lot of fun, introduce you to other players from across the Big XII, and you will get a LOT better in one day's time. Our team will likely be hosted in player homes, so the trip will cost you only a share of gas and food.
- Email our coach, Tracy Curtis, to be included on the email list!
