In February 2005, the Oklahoma Student Volunteers (OSV) put on the first annual "AWOL" (A Week of Love) event. This event was filled with fundraising activities during the week of February 14th-18th. All proceeds raised went to benefit one of our own Sooners (Faculty, Staff, or Student) who have experienced a significant life-changing event or illness and are in need of financial assistance.

The recipient for "AWOL" is nominated by the OU community. Anyone at the University of Oklahoma can nominate a person attending OU who fits the AWOL criteria. Applications are available and submitted on-line.

Last semester, OSV received 75 nominations. These nominations were read by the OSV Advisor, OSV President, and an OSV Event chair woman. After careful consideration, the first-ever AWOL Recipient was selected.
