About Sooner Discovery
Sooner Discovery is the University of Oklahoma's premiere concurrent enrollment experience designed for rising high school juniors and seniors. Since 2015, our month-long program has amplified students' high school experiences, helping prepare them for their future college careers.
Our students have distinguished access to academics, development courses, cultural immersion, social experiences, and residential life at one of the state's top universities.
What is Sooner Discovery?
The goal of Sooner Discovery is to provide high school students a unique and full college immersion experience. At the University of Oklahoma, we offer challenging courses taught by distinguished faculty, residential living on campus, and engaging activities for students to enjoy.
What's Involved at Sooner Discovery?
While living on campus, you will spend the morning and afternoon in college courses through OU. The morning course, to be selected by you, satisfies a general education credit requirement. In the afternoon, all Sooner Discovery students will attend an “Introduction to Academic Discovery” course, which satisfies an elective course credit requirement. The course will focus on the college application process as well as instilling in students the effective learning and study skills that lead to success.
In addition to academics, students will experience collegiate life through fun and exciting activities hosted and planned by our Discovery Guides (undergraduate peer advisors) and mentorship opportunities aimed at generating meaningful connections.
Students have the opportunity to discover Oklahoma’s heritage and explore all our great state has to offer. Through weekend field trips to sites such as Oklahoma City museums, professional sporting events, Tulsa’s aquarium, OKC Riversport Adventures or the Philbrook Museum of Art, every student is sure to find something they enjoy!
Sooner Discovery is intended for high achieving students who are motivated by challenging experiences. Space is limited, so apply early to ensure your application has the best chance of being selected.
