Protecting Our Neighborhood Detention
Most newer neighborhoods have either a detention pond (mostly empty, grassy basin), or a retention pond (holds water most of the time). The purpose of these ponds is to capture and temporarily hold stormwater runoff from the neighborhood. Homeowners often aren’t aware of who is responsible for the ponds and they often become neglected. Because of these and other issues, the Oklahoma Water Survey developed the Protecting Our Neighborhood Detention program.
