Internships

As part of its mission, The Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth provides immersive learning experiences for OU students that allow them to create real-world solutions using software, business principles, sustainability best practices and consumer-driven feedback.

Consulting Associate Internship

The Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth Consulting Associate Internship is a semester-long experiential learning opportunity for OU students at the Norman, OKC, and Tulsa campuses.

The I-CCEW Consulting Associate internship program fulfills the I-CCEW mission to advance people, ideas, and businesses in two ways. First, the businesses, non-profits, and researchers that I-CCEW Interns work with receive insights and recommendations that drive their organization forward, allowing them to create wealth and jobs for Oklahomans. Second, I-CCEW Interns learn consulting-style problem solving, analysis, and communication skills that set them apart as leaders amongst their peers. Third, Associates receive training and work closely with local entrepreneurs on business model generation, business plan creation, financial projections, and loan proposal preparation. The number of Consulting Associates working with a client depends on the scope of the project. Projects with a broader scope will be conducted by full team of four Associates. Smaller scoped projects are run through the OFA program and pair one Associate per client.

If you're an OU student and interested in applying for the I-CCEW Internship, please review the applications tab.

Consulting Associates working on a full team will leverage the power of interdisciplinary collaboration to deliver high-impact solutions for their client. Over the course of each semester, I-CCEW Interns work to commercialize researchers' innovative new inventions, sustainably solve pressing social issues, and develop software solutions for Oklahoma startups or launch their own tech venture.

Consulting Associates who work one-on-one with their client will have the opportunity to personally influence the strategy of an established start-up. They will work as a part of the Oklahoma Funding Accelerator (OFA).  Since its founding, OFA has worked with entrepreneurs across Oklahoma who need help starting or expanding their business ventures. The business consulting experience gives OFA Associates a channel to gain real-world experience.

Software Business Accelerator Internship

The Software Business Accelerator program matches a team of software development interns and a graphic designer with an interdisciplinary team and a business project. Answering today's business challenges often requires rapid development of user-centric software products, and the SoBA program gives programmers and designers the skills necessary to be on the cutting edge.

Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth Software Developers go through an intense coding boot camp designed to boost their programming skills. While the particular languages and frameworks learned depend on the project for the semester, past interns have worked on web, Android, and iOS applications using languages and tools including JavaScript, Mongo, Angular, Node, Java, Swift, and Objective-C.

Agile Product Design Internship

The Agile Product Design Program at the Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth seeks to apply an IDEO-inspired iterative design approach to generate new consumer products. An interdisciplinary team from across majors is assembled to conduct this consumer-driven design process. Together, each team is tasked generally to:

  • Identify a consumer problem or pain point with an existing product
  • Design an initial product that aims to solve this problem or pain
  • Iteratively prototype and refine the design through extensive consumer interviews and research

The APD program has two primary objectives: to create innovative products that can be commercialized to promote economic development in Oklahoma and to provide a unique, real-world experience to students, preparing both the business analysts and engineering design interns for the cross-disciplinary work environment they will encounter beyond graduation.

Energy Development Internship

The Energy Development team at the Ronnie K Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth will work with energy companies to build our the commercialization strategies for new and emerging technologies within the energy industry. Emphasis is placed on technologies focused on renewable energy.

Bay Area Internship

The Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth Bay Area Internship is an intense 2-month summer internship for outstanding I-CCEW Alumni, those who have successfully completed a semester-long project. The first Bay Area Internship took place in 2012 and was created to start a channel for talent and intellectual property to flow between Oklahoma and the San Francisco Bay Area, including Silicon Valley. Through the Bay Area Internship program, I-CCEW has built relationships with Sandia and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories, in Livermore, CA, where Interns have done impactful work on early-stage technology commercialization projects.

In addition to being an outstanding experiential learning program for I-CCEW alums, the Bay Area internship provides professional development and networking experiences that OU students would not get otherwise. I-CCEW's network of alumni and friends in the Bay Area opens up opportunities for Bay Area Interns to visit companies such Google, Salesforce, and Lockheed Martin and build relationships with the top tech companies in the Valley.
