The Mine is a catalyst for social innovation in Oklahoma equipping entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, creatives, and developers to create a better world.
At The Mine, our goal is to combine the best of entrepreneurial innovation and sustainability with the best of the social sector's compassion and empathy, applying business principles and startup methods to creatively address community issues.
The Mine experience is a 4-month innovative problem-solving program for top nonprofits and businesses in Tulsa. Teams learn a human-centered design curriculum sourced from top management consulting firms and LEAN startup methodology. Teams create impact by applying these principles to their organizations and providing real-time solutions to problems that have an impact on the Tulsa community.
The Mine has completed 25+ social impact projects and trained community leaders in entrepreneurial thinking, human-centered design, and startup best practices.
The Mine was founded in Tulsa in 2013 by I-CCEW, the George Kaiser Family Foundation, and the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation.
The Mine is powered by The University of Oklahoma Ronnie K. Irani Center for the Creation of Economic Wealth (I-CCEW).
