A Message from Gaylord Dean,
Andrea Miller

Ed Kelley

Greetings Gaylord / J-School Alumni!

Whether you graduated decades ago or just last year, we are thrilled to welcome you to the Gaylord College Alumni family. You are one of 10,000+ alums living and working around the world, and we are excited to stay connected to each and every one of you. We have no doubt that you are one of the innovative leaders who is changing the landscape of our industries. We remain committed to creating graduates with skills and critical thought that will lead to endless career opportunities and successes such as your own.

Gaylord Hall is the hall of ideas. Where creativity and passion come together to house a student-focused, nationally ranked media program. As the new dean of the college, I wanted to take some time to give you a rundown of all the new, expanding and exciting programs and accomplishments that continue to make Gaylord a special place.

  • In 2024, our Ad Team won seventh place in the nation in the National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) for their campaign for global client Tide.
  • Our student-led sports show Gameday U is the number one collegiate sports show in the nation as determined by the 2023 results of the BEA Festival of Media Arts. It is OU’s only live pre-game football show. Our students also produce, host and report for Sooner Sports Pad that is broadcast around the state and streamed on ESPN+.
  • Our sports shows, Gaylord Hall Productions and our nightly newscast OU Nightly have all contributed to our ranking as the number two media program in the nation!
  • In summer 2024, Greenlight Creative Productions shot a full-length feature film in 30 days! Student written. Student produced. Student filmed. Student acted. Student-led. Look for the crimson carpet premiere of “Neon” sometime this academic year.
  • Our curious students also travel to expand their horizons. Besides trips to New York City and Dallas, our summer study abroad programs in Italy and England, spring 2024 will see the launch of a Semester in Arezzo to give another global opportunity to our students.

This is the place where industry-experienced professors and scholars, rich experiential learning, leading-edge facilities and technology culminate in what we call the Gaylord Difference.

We give students the opportunities to immerse themselves in that ever-changing landscape, but it takes industry expertise and connections as well as funding to make sure each student has access to this world of opportunities. The Gaylord Difference is leading the future. If you are interested in being a part of this with your time, talents and treasures, we encourage you to sign up to be a part of the Gaylord College Alumni Association (GCAA)  https://www.ou.edu/gaylord/alumni/join .

Also, follow the GCAA on social to take advantage of the great programs and events that will take place throughout the year, as well as keep us updated on current contact information and post-graduation accomplishments.

Thank you as always for your continued support of Gaylord College. We hope to see you on campus or at an alumni event soon!

Sincerely,

Andrea Miller
