FRIENDS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF OKLAHOMA BIOLOGICAL STATION |

Greetings from the ChairmanGreetings to you Friends! Thank you for your interest in the University of Oklahoma Biological Station. Our FUOBS organization has been at it for over ten years and I must say we still love the UOBS. 2012 has been a year of changes for UOBS. The Station now falls under the Department of Biology and Dr. Gary Wellborn has assumed the position of Station Director. Gary brings new ideas and enthusiasm for future success for the Station. We look forward to working with Dr. Wellborn to further our mission in the support of the Station and its students, faculty and staff. We also give thanks to Dr. Larry Weider, our previous Director, who was instrumental in the formation of FUOBS and worked with our group for over ten years on our projects and celebrations in an outstanding capacity. Kudos to both of these dedicated individuals. Your FUOBS Executive Board has recently met to plan out how best to support the Station in the near term. Dr. Wellborn has asked that we focus some attention to some of the needs of our aging infrastructure. We have decided to assist with thus worthy goal and have committed to raise $10,000 towards the renovations. We are planning our next celebration for 2013 for October 18-20th. This will not conflict with the BioBlitz or the OU football home schedule and will be a wonderful time of year to spend a weekend at the Station. We have received word that our own Ken Gage, ’83 MS and ’87 PhD Zoology has been chosen as Distinguished Alumnus of the OU College if Arts and Sciences and will be honored at the 2013 Kaleidoscope Evening on February 22. We plan a reception in his honor during the week’s activities. I think exciting times are around the corner for our FUOBS group. We can sure use your ideas and help. Please contact us with ideas you may have to further our cause. Please help us raise the funds for the needs of the Biological Station. Most of all, help us grow our group with your participation, your attendance to our group functions and by reaching out to others that have a shared interest in our beloved Station. Best Wishes, Kim R. Hauger |
