Jonathan W. Hils has received a number of recognitions for his work and has presented six solo exhibitions and participated in over forty group exhibitions across the country in the past decade. He’s also represented in a number of private and corporate collections internationally including the Four Seasons, Hyatt Corporation, Hilton Corporation, Tysons Galleria (VA), Equity West Investment Partners (CO), and the John Michael Kohler Art Center. Most recently, he's completed public art projects for the City of Norman, OK, the San Diego Port Authority, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority (State of Oklahoma), the Paseo Arts Association (Paseo District) in Oklahoma City. Upcoming projects include permanent public sculptures for the City of Oklahoma City and the City of Cerritos, CA. The grand prize recipient of the 2010 TX/OK Artprize competition, the 2009 City of Hamilton Outdoor Sculpture Competition, and the 21st Rosen Outdoor Sculpture Competition in 2007, Hils has also received the 2005 Oklahoma Visual Art Coalition’s Artist Fellowship Award and he was selected for the John Michael Kohler artist residency in 2005. His work has been featured at the International Sculpture Center (ISC), and reviewed in reVIEW Magazine, Southwest Art Magazine, Sculpture Magazine (China), and Art Focus Oklahoma Magazine. His works are also included in the collections of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art (OK), the Wichita Falls Museum of Art (TX), and the Chattahoochie Valley Art Museum (GA).
Hils’ research interests include digital fabrication (CNC), CAD, 3d printing, and public art. Aside from teaching studio and technical based courses in these areas, he also teaches The Business of Art: Professional Practices to prepare students for real world success in their creative practice. Jonathan Hils has lectured across the country including presentations at the University of Wyoming, San Jose State University, Oklahoma State University, Longwood University, Appalachian State University, Wichita State University, the University of South Carolina, the College of Charleston, Brevard College, Renmin University (China), and Pittsburgh State University. He’s also presented artist talks at a number of art centers and galleries associate with his research and exhibitions.
