Assignment: Read the following pages in Chapter 13 Evaluation Arguments  p. 280-283, 285-293. Look through your topic inventory to identify a good evaluation essay topic.

April 5 Invention, Develop a framework for an evaluation, Powerpoint presentations

Assignment:  Look through your topic inventory work and select a subject for this essay. Read the sample essays onp. 29-35 and 36-42.  Write about the essay you are assigned using the guidelines online.  Read Chapter 8  Accommodating Your Audience p. 152-179.  Write a journal page.  Be prepared to write your evaluation claim in class on Tuesday.

April 12 Evaluating a website,

Assignment:  Complete the Toulmin outline, Part I--claim, reasons, grounds, warrants, and backing for your evaluation essay. Be ready to give Judy the names of two people you would like to work with on this essay. Find a web source for your evaluation essay that is "good" based on the criteria we discussed in class today. NO JOURNAL THIS WEEK  Vividly and completely describe the X term in your evaluation claim. For example, in the claim: Allen Iverson is the best pointguard in the NBA, you would describe Allen Iverson's skills and talents.

April 17 Discuss sample evaluation essays, list features, Claim and Criteria, Conditions of Rebuttal, How evaluations can go wrong ,

Assignment: Write the first draft of this essay and bring 2 copies of it to the next class.  Be ready to submit your Toulmin plan parts I and II to Judy at the next class.

April 19 Exchange essays/ Audience analysis, Accommodating your audience

Assignment: Write complete and thoughtful review letters for each of your classmates’ essays using the guide online.

April 24  Discuss the review letters and collect ideas for revising your essay

Assignment: Revise your essay .  It is due in class on April 26. Prepare your Evaluation argument essay for April 26.  Bring 2 typewritten copies of your final draft, one copy of your first draft, your audience analysis, your Toulmin plan, and copies of all the review letters you received about this essay.
