The Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education recognizes the need to prepare the next generation of teachers with vital cross-cultural and global skills so that they in turn can promote global citizenship skills in their classrooms. With this in mind, we are developing international educational programs for our students.
Undergraduate and graduate students may earn credit for required and elective courses taught by OU faculty while studying abroad.
WHAT
The university offers various programs for students to gain global experience. Students can access information about these opportunities through OU Global Engagement. The two popular program options are faculty-led and partner university programs. Each category offers short-term (4 weeks) and long-term (semester or academic year) options.
HOW
To participate in a study abroad program students must: 1) choose a destination and/or program, 2) meet with the advisor assigned to the destination and/or program, 3) research resources to fund studying abroad, 4) apply for desired program, 5) commit/pay deposit for chosen program, and 6) finally prepare for departure.
WHERE
If you are not sure where you would like to study abroad you should meet with your college study abroad liaison. All SA liaisons are listed at the bottom of the page. Education students, both undergraduate and graduate, can meet with me, wmwalker@ou.edu.
Students can also sign up for a Study Abroad 101 session through the Education Abroad department. It showcases all the different programs available this year. This session is also a requirement for students studying abroad through the university.
WHO
If you know the country or region in which you would like to study, you can schedule an appointment with a Global Engagement advisor assigned to the country and/or region of your choice.
