Jacob Pleasants CV (PDF)

Dr. Jacob Pleasants is a former high school physics and physical science teacher. He earned his Ph.D. in science education at Iowa State University and ran the secondary science teacher education program at Keene State College in New Hampshire before joining the University of Oklahoma in 2021. At OU, Dr. Pleasants teaches undergraduate secondary science education courses as well as graduate courses in STEM education.

Through his research, Dr. Pleasants works to bring issues that lie at the intersection of science, technology, engineering, and society into STEM education. He is particularly interested in helping teachers and students think critically about the complex role that technology and engineering play in our lives and in our communities. Illustrating that work are his contributions to the Civics of Technology community (https://www.civicsoftechnology.org/) as well as the Stories of Engineering Work project (http://rennercenter.oucreate.com/stories-of-engineering-work/).
