In this issue of the Oklahoma Education Journal, author Emily Morton of the American Institutes for Research explores four-day school weeks. The practice has mainly expanded among rural districts. But what is known about the effects of four-day schedules? Morton presents her research on educational outcomes and school finance in four-day districts.

Also in this issue, Associate Professor Timothy Ford provides an authoritative review of research-informed strategies that schools can use to strengthen teacher retention. Assistant Professor Elizabeth Zumpe tackles the new book Take Back the Game: How Money and Mania are Ruining Kids’ Sports. And finally, this issue covers the work of Tony Dearman, the longest-serving director of the federal government’s Bureau of Indian Education.

Associate Professor Daniel Hamlin serves as the editor-in-chief of the Oklahoma Education Journal, with Ford and professors Curt Adams and Beverly Edwards-Poteet.
