Will Rogers Scholarships
Each year the College of Education awards a limited number of Will Rogers Scholarships for up to $1000 to graduate students majoring in Special Education who desire to prepare themselves for service in the education of individuals with disabilities. Eligible applicants must be currently enrolled as a graduate student in the Special Education program at the University of Oklahoma, a resident of Oklahoma, and in need of financial support.

Grants

TEACH Grants
The TEACH Grant Program is the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low income families. Undergraduate students are eligible for a maximum of $16,000 and graduate students are eligible for a maximum of $8,000. Students are required to serve as a full-time teacher for at least four academic years within eight years of completing their eligible degree program. OU students who meet the criteria may be considered for the grant. Students must be admitted to the OU Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education. A student must meet all the criteria listed on the federal website and meet all of the required criteria at OU.

Assistantships

The Special Education Program at the University of Oklahoma has limited teaching and research assistantships available for graduate students. The Zarrow Institute on Transition and Self-Determination also has opportunities for graduate students to serve as research assistants in ongoing research and demonstration projects.

Fellowships

Loans-Federal Government Loan Forgiveness Programs
Perkins Loans and Stafford Loans can be cancelled for full-time service as a special education teacher in a designated elementary or secondary school serving students from low-income families.

Other Financial Support

The University of Oklahoma Graduate College has many funding resources for graduate students.
