The University of Oklahoma’s Jeannine Rainbolt College of Education offers Science of Reading micro-credentials that equip educators with evidence-based strategies to strengthen literacy instruction. These credentials focus on the core components of reading—phonemic awareness, phonics, word recognition, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension—through explicit, systematic approaches grounded in current research.
The Science of Reading badge recognizes professionals who demonstrate proficiency in foundational literacy knowledge and instructional practice. Through this micro-credential, educators gain hands-on experience using data to guide instruction, monitor progress, and support students with reading challenges, including dyslexia. Badge holders show a strong understanding of developmental literacy, contemporary reading theories, and the skills needed to deliver effective, research-based instruction.
