Oklahoma Petroleum Information Center

Oklahoma Petroleum Information Center (OPIC)

OPIC, the Oklahoma Petroleum Information Center, houses more than 100 miles of core from almost 10,000 Oklahoma wells, samples from over 50,000 wells, well logs, production reports, and other material vital to petroleum exploration and production.

Through OPIC, the OGS provides access to petroleum materials and data collected in Oklahoma and other states since the earliest days of the industry in the 20th century. OPIC preserves and catalogs these collections, adds to them on a continuing basis, and makes the holdings accessible to the public at nominal charges.

The collection contains information, maps and materials useful to industry, academia, scout and school groups, landscapers and civic planners, hunters and fishers, hikers, and those needing topographic maps. Included in the OPIC complex are office spaces for use by patrons, a conference center, and fee-based core services such as core gamma scan, lighted lay-out tables for viewing, core slabbing and cutting, and core photography.
