Sponsored Research and Compliance Training Ensures Proper Stewardship of Federally Funded Research

The University of Oklahoma is providing a sponsored research and compliance training for faculty and research staff to help those engaged in or supporting sponsored research better understand compliance regulations.

“Research compliance training plays a crucial role in upholding the integrity of the research enterprise by ensuring that faculty and research staff are well-versed in the complex landscape of regulatory requirements,” said Shannon Lunt, assistant vice president for research and partnerships and OU Norman research integrity officer.

Regulations and requirements around sponsored research vary from agency to agency and have increased in volume over recent years.

“The Sponsored Research and Compliance training will help ensure that all University employees are trained in and aware of common research-related compliance issues,” said Cindy Clark, associate director of research information services for the Office of Research Services.

“(This) training empowers researchers to navigate potential pitfalls, maintain high standards of conduct, and safeguard the credibility of their work,” Lunt added. “Ultimately, a well-informed and compliant research community contributes to the responsible advancement of knowledge and innovation.”
