NORMAN, OKLA. – Sixteen seniors from the University of Oklahoma have been selected as Outstanding Seniors for their exceptional achievements in scholarship, honors, awards, leadership and service. Of these 16 students, Kyle Eskew from Beavercreek Township, Ohio, was chosen by a committee of OU faculty, staff and students as the overall Outstanding Senior.
The group was recognized at a recent ceremony, where OU President Joseph Harroz Jr., OU Vice President of Student Affairs and Dean of Students David Surratt and representatives from OU colleges presented each recipient with their Outstanding Senior Award.

A newly funded research project led by David Schvartzman will use trailblazing technology to transform understanding of lightning and electrification, helping to improve storm warnings and better assess the risk of structural damage and power outages from thunderstorms.

The University of Oklahoma community has been recognized by the Broadcast Education Association at its 2026 Festival of Media Arts. Students and faculty combined to earn 35 different awards at the event.
