A Message from Outgoing OU-Tulsa President John Schumann

The OU Board of Regents present a resolution to outgoing OU-Tulsa President John Schumann, recognizing his years of service to the university.
Dear University of Oklahoma community,
As my time at OU-Tulsa draws to a close, I wanted to reach out to express my gratitude to the wider OU community. Serving as the president of OU-Tulsa for more than six years has been the highlight of my professional career. And I have seen firsthand how the multi-campus approach works so well for this flagship university.
With a new university strategic plan now in place, the time is right for new campus leadership to envision and articulate how OU-Tulsa can optimize our branch campus functioning.
Acting President of OU-Tulsa Jim Sluss will be a steady hand in maintaining our growth trajectory and helping segue to the future. We are lucky to have him.
One last time, I wish to offer my thanks and enduring gratitude to faculty, staff, students and everyone who makes this university what it is; I thank you for your service and commitment.
Goodbye is too strong a word, so I will just say, “Fare thee well.” Boomer Sooner!
John H. Schumann, M.D.
