Matt Reyes, associate professor of Construction Science, was recently recognized at the 60th Annual Associated Schools of Construction (ASC) International Conference. Reyes received the 2024 ASC Regional Outstanding Educator Award, which recognizes the top educator in ASC Region V

The ASC is a professional association of construction educators and industry practitioners with over 170 member schools across the globe. The ASC hosts an annual conference to gather the construction community to share research, discuss best practices in teaching and foster partnerships between academia and industry.

“The conference is a wonderful opportunity for professors to stay up to date on industry practices and learn what faculty in other programs are doing, both in the classroom and in research,” said Reyes. “The result is a more engaging experience for students that incorporates the latest industry concepts.”

Each year, the Regional Outstanding Educator Award is given to a faculty member with at least seven years’ teaching experience at a four-year ASC member school. This award recognizes their contribution to construction education, excellence in teaching and dedication to construction education and the construction profession.

“I was very honored to receive this recognition,” said Reyes. “There are some very talented teachers in our division here in Gibbs College and in our region. It is humbling to have been recognized among them.”

Congratulations to professor Matt Reyes for receiving this award!
