The OU PRIME Lab is well-designed for cutting-edge media psychology research. A typical PRIME Lab study follows these steps below.
The researchers meet the participant in the waiting lobby.
The researchers bring the participant to the offline data collection room and go over the study's consent form with them. Once the participant provides informed consent, the participant will be asked to use a PRIME Lab laptop to take a pre-study questionnaire. For some studies, the participant will return to the offline data collection room after completing the study to take a post-experiment questionnaire.
The researchers bring the participants to the participant room and connect them to the physiological data collection devices that measure galvanic skin response (GSR), electrocardiogram (ECG), photoplethysmography (PPG), facial expression, and eye-tracking activities. Then, the researchers instruct the participants on what they need to do during the experiment.
After making sure all signals are looking good, the researchers launch the experiment in the experimenter room. Here, they monitor the live view of the data collection signals and observe the participant through a one-way mirror. Once the participant has finished the experiment, the researchers disconnect the participant from the data collection devices and provide the debrief.
