Nicholas Bartell graduated in 2009 from the Peggy Dow Helmerich School of Drama at the University of Oklahoma with his BFA in Drama and has made theatre education, directing, and performing in the OKC Metro Area his career focus. Notable education credits include six years as an acting instructor for The Sooner Theatre, four years of public school teaching (Jackson Middle School, Longfellow Middle School), seven years as Camp Director for Oklahoma Shakespeare's Young Company Theatre Camp, three and a half years as Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's Director of Secondary Education, Adjunct Professor of Performance at the OU School of Drama, and a year with the State Department of Education developing the Art Tech Grant Project as an Arts Specialist.
From 2012-2018 Nick served as the Vice-Chairman of the Namron Players Theatre where he helped produce original works, 24 Hour Play Festivals, performed, directed, and helped grow the non-profit theatre company which is still producing theatre in Norman.
As a theatre artist in the community, Nick co-hosts and curates Norman Depot Comedy Night at The Norman Depot every third Thursday of the month, directs for Cimarron Opera Company, performs with Oklahoma Shakespeare in the Park, and dialect coaches for Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma. Nick also serves as the Secretary of the Board for Norman NEXT, our local Young Professionals Organization.
Nick is thrilled to be serving as the Academic Advisor for the OU School of Visual Art, and the opportunity to encourage and support artists in their pursuit of their education and career in the arts.
