RESEARCH FOCUS
My laboratory is dedicated to translational research, which aims to bridge basic laboratory discoveries and innovations with pre-clinical studies, ultimately leading to clinical applications that benefit patients. My research centers on tumor biology and cancer genetics for identification of novel molecular oncogenic targets, cancer cell signaling, survival and cell death pathways/programmed cell death in cancer and tumor microenvironment and the development of next-generation, highly innovative cancer targeted therapeutics and Immunotherapeutics. We also work on nanotechnology and development tumor-targeting nano delivery systems nanocarriers (lipid, polymers or metal-based) for safe and effective delivery of novel cancer therapeutics, including RNA/microRNA therapeutics, oligonucleotides, proteins and cancer vaccine adjuvants immunostimulants, kinase inhibitors). Our major interest is to develop novel therapeutics for highly aggressive hard-to cure solid cancers, including breast, pancreatic, lung, ovarian, colon, melanoma and brain tumors by targeting eEF2-kinase (eEF2K), FOXM1, AXL, KRAS, and immune suppressive pathways, such as PDL1, B7-H3 signaling.
