Aerospace and mechanical engineers design and build the tools, machines, and aeronautical technology that propel us forward, moving us into the future.
They are essential to manufacturing, oil and gas, aerospace, defense, civil infrastructure, health care, and consumer products industries. Led by our award-winning faculty with a philosophy of experiential learning, students gain a broad range of knowledge making them strong competitors in today’s job market and preparing students at all levels to solve engineering problems that are seen on a daily basis. Through project-based education, working in teams of fellow students, and the 31 full-time faculty of the school, students gain a unique educational experience.
Brooke Rogachuk and Cayman Matson are the only 2024 Astronaut Scholars from the state of Oklahoma. They were named among the best students and future leaders in science, technology, engineering and math nationwide
The University of Oklahoma has received a $4.8 million commitment from the Oklahoma City Air Logistics Complex at Tinker Air Force Base to create a primer free of chromium containing materials to protect U.S. military aerospace equipment from corrosion.
U.S. Air Force pilot Jason “Mongoose” Dotter was recognized alongside five OU alumni and current KC-135 flyover crew members from the 507th Air Refueling Wing from Tinker Air Force Base, during the home OU football game against Tennessee on Sept. 21.
