The Academic Success Center (ASC) was established in 2024 at the University of Oklahoma as an evolution of the student success vision previously carried out by University College, which primarily served first-year students entering the university. For many years, University College was located on the lower level of the Carnegie building, situated just west of the Oklahoma Memorial Union. In 2008, Wagner Hall was constructed to bring together various academic services in a centralized location. Officially opening in 2009, Wagner Hall became the home of University College and remains the hub of the Academic Success Center services. Today, the ASC includes Academic Advising, the Advising Records Office, Assessment and Analytics, the Center for Major and Career Exploration, the Center for Student Advancement, First Year Learning and Engagement, the Student Learning Center, and the Administrative Office.
Wagner Hall also features several classrooms, study spaces for individuals and small groups, and the university's Writing Center and TRIO Center. The inviting two-story atrium offers open areas that foster a relaxed atmosphere for students to connect and share ideas. The building is named in honor of Lissa and Cy Wagner, influential and generous advocates for higher education who have made significant contributions across campus. They played a pivotal role in establishing the Energy Center and the Seed Sower Society and were major benefactors of the Sooner Sports Great Expectations Campaign, the Laurence S. Youngblood Energy Library, and the Fred Jones Jr. Museum of Art. Additionally, Wagner Dining Hall bears their name.
Looking ahead, the ASC is enthusiastic about providing services to all undergraduate students across disciplines. We aim to ensure students receive the academic support they need to thrive at the University of Oklahoma. Over the years, we have established a culture of care, community, and educational excellence. We look forward to continuing this tradition for current and future students.
