How to Become an Involved Alum

How to Become an Involved Alum

There are many avenues to involvement at AME. Your involvement as an alumnus not only gives back to AME, but it also adds value to you as you network with fellow and future alumni, encourage the next class of AME graduates and continue your journey as a life-long learner.

1.

Donate to AME

Small or large, your donations help AME provide the best education to AME students. Donate by visiting the OU Foundation page and specifying your gift to AME or by responding to the Annual Fund Campaign.

Volunteer with the AME Capstone Program

The AME Capstone Program is an essential component to an AME undergraduate education. This semester-long project takes students out of the classroom and places them in a student team tasked with designing a product for a real client. Students must take knowledge acquired during the previous three-and-a-half years and apply it in a real-world setting while improving crucial skills for the workforce such as teamwork, data interpretation, communication, problem solving, ethical decision making, timely project completion all within budget. There are multiple options for alumni involvement in the AME Capstone Program.

To volunteer, contact Dr. Christopher Dalton (Mechanical Engineering) or Dr. Srikanth Bashetty (Aerospace Engineering).

  • Guest Judges judge the capstone projects during the Capstone Fair.
  • Technical Liaisons serve as mentors and technical advisors throughout the semester-long project, working with one team 2-4 hours per week.
  • Project Sponsors are companies and individuals who develop an open-ended project for a Capstone Team to complete to the sponsor’s satisfaction. The sponsor provides the funds and materials for the project.

5.

Provide Feedback to AME

AME is constantly looking for feedback from our alumni to help us improve our program, better serve and connect with our alumni and also for accreditation purposes. Send feedback to AME Student Services Coordinator Samarpita Ghosh.
